Dress CodeGeneral Requirements
All clothes must be neat and clean at the beginning of the day and may not be torn, have frayed edges, or have any other unusual features which draw unnecessary attention. No clothing shall be excessively tight and form fitting, excessively loose, or immodest in design or style. All clothing shall be worn in a neat and modest manner. Upper Body Wear (shirts, blouses, etc.) All shirts must be collared for boys. Tops without collars will be allowed for girls provided that they are not t-shirts. Small, trademark logos are permitted, provided that they are inconspicuous and appropriate. Shirts with printed pictures, statements, and advertisements are not permitted. All upper body wear must have sleeves and a neckline that is sufficiently high. Shirts must be cut long enough to prevent the midriff from showing. Shirts that do not have a straight and finished hem must be completely tucked in. Lower Body Wear (slacks, skirts, shorts) Boys may wear slacks. Girls may wear slacks, skirts, or dresses. No denim jeans are permitted. All lower body wear must be worn at the waist and should not be exceedingly tight or loose. All boys’ slacks must be worn with a belt or suspenders. Skirts must not be more than two inches above the knee. Dresses meeting both the blouse and skirt regulations may also be worn. Tailored and cargo shorts that fall no shorter than two inches above the knee may be worn. Athletic and denim shorts are not permitted. Outer Wear (sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, coats) Only the following outer wear items may be worn inside buildings, and all must be worn over regulation attire: sweatshirts meeting the upper body wear guidelines regarding logos, etc. worn no lower than the hip winter knit sweaters worn no lower than the hip jackets or coats with even, square-cut bottoms Footwear All footwear must be clean and presentable. Shoes that present a potential safety hazard (flip-flops, roller shoes, etc.) are prohibited. Military-style boots are not acceptable. Other Hair must be kept neat and clean. Boys may not have facial hair, earrings, or any other form of pierced jewelry. Girls may wear one earring in each ear. No other pierced jewelry is permitted. Only girls may wear nail polish. No one may display a tattoo, either temporary or permanent. No hats or other head coverings, such as bandannas, may be worn indoors, unless otherwise directed. Any article of clothing, item of jewelry, hairstyle, or other such aspect of outward appearance deemed to be unusually distracting due to color, pattern, cut, etc. is unacceptable. While participating in athletic activities students may wear shorts of appropriate fit and length, which must be worn at the waist. Spandex must always be covered by clothing of modest fit and length. |
